Greta Thunberg says energy firms throwing people “under the bus” for their own gain

Global News published this video item, entitled “Greta Thunberg says energy firms throwing people “under the bus” for their own gain” – below is their description.

The world’s most well-known climate activist Greta Thunberg confronted the man in charge of regulating global energy in Davos, Switzerland on Thursday, demanding an end to fossil fuel investments.

“As long as they can get away with it they will continue to invest in fossil fuels, they will continue to throw people under the bus for their own gain,” Thunberg warned.

During a roundtable discussion with IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting, activists said they had presented a “cease and desist” letter to CEOs calling on them to stop opening new oil, gas and coal extraction sites.

Thunberg was joined by fellow activists Helena Gualinga from Ecuador, Vanessa Nakate from Uganda and Luisa Neubauer from Germany in the discussion with Birol on tackling the big climate issues.
