ITV News can report first-hand tonight on the destruction caused by the wildfires across southern Europe.

We’ve been to Greece, one of the countries worst-hit.

Soaring temperatures and bone-dry conditions have caused fires to rage out of control in Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey.

They’ve even threatened to engulf Olympia, the historic birthplace of the Olympic Games.

While on the Greek island of Evia, firefighters are still battling to contain the flames, as our reporter Ben Chapman found out.
