Nearly 60 years ago, industrial pollution contaminated the water upstream from the Grassy Narrows First Nation in Ontario, causing mercury poisoning in fish and later people. The agreement with Ottawa for $68.9 million more in funding brings the total to $90 million to help operate a facility to care for people experiencing health impacts of the chemical. Chief Randy Fobister says this moment is historic for the community.
