Grandfather beaten by yobs on his driveway after police fail to act on months of abuse

The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “Grandfather beaten by yobs on his driveway after police fail to act on months of abuse” – below is their description.

A grandfather was beaten with a metal chain on his driveway by masked youths after warning “uninterested” police that the gang had been tormenting him for months.

Dramatic doorbell footage captured the moment a grandad bravely wrestled with armed thugs on the driveway of his home after being tormented by yobs for months.

Roy Muller, 76, was struck by the chain and repeatedly punched and kicked as he tried to detain one of the youths at his house in Great Barr, Birmingham, last Thursday.

The grandfather-of-nine said he has been forced to defend his home after being plagued by gangs since October.

Mr Muller – who lives alone and suffered a heart attack last year – claimed police have failed to act, despite being targeted by up to 14 youths on a daily basis.

He said West Midlands Police visited him on Monday, but that all they “ever do is come and record [the incident] and go away”.
