Guardian News published this video item, entitled “Government ‘holding back a generation’ over education catchup, says Keir Starmer” – below is their description.
Keir Starmer said Boris Johnson’s government is ‘holding back a generation’ with its post-coronavirus school catch-up plan. The £1.4bn announced for the post-pandemic catch-up programme for pupils in England is around a 10th of the £15bn total understood to have been recommended by the education recovery commissioner, Sir Kevan Collins. The Labour party is expected to put forward a motion for more funding for school children as Starmer said Johnson could claim to be on the side of deprived youth if he did not support the Collins plan
