The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “Gove: EU recognises that it made a mistake” – below is their description.
Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove said Saturday the European Union’s move to potentially invoke the Article 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol was a ”mistake,” but added it was important to cooperate with the bloc to make sure the vaccination rollout was effective.
On Friday evening, the EU introduced tighter rules on exports of Covid-19 vaccines that could hit shipments to nations like the UK, deepening a dispute with London over scarce supplies of potentially lifesaving shots.
But amid an outcry in Northern Ireland and the UK, the European Commission made clear the new measure will not trigger controls on vaccines shipments produced in the 27-nation bloc to the small territory that is part of United Kingdom bordering EU member Ireland.
Gove said the bloc recognised it made a mistake to bloc vaccine exports and not consulting the Irish and British governments before making the move.
