A day after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he favors allowing states struggling with high public-employee pension costs to declare bankruptcy rather than giving them a federal bailout, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo called the comment “one of the really dumb ideas of all time.”
If you allow states to go bankrupt, “you will see a collapse of this national economy,” he said. Cuomo also took issue with McConnell’s statement about “stopping blue state bailouts,” calling it “irresponsible and reckless”
