Global News published this video item, entitled “Golden Globs 2023: Glitz and glamour, but little politics as celebrities hit the red carpet” – below is their description.
The glitz and glamour of the Golden Globe awards were back on full display Tuesday as the ceremony returned after a year off the air.
A scathing exposé of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) led NBC to cancel its 2022 broadcast of the ceremony, while some celebrities boycotted the awards.
The HFPA announced a series of reforms in the wake of the report, including diversifying its membership.
But this year, as celebrities returned to celebrate colleagues, few wanted to speak about the controversy.
“But I think what has happened is, they need to clear it all up and wake up to a brighter and beautiful day and move forward and I think we all need to move ahead, move forward together,” said Michelle Yeoh, one of the few celebrities to comment on the controversy.
Yeoh won best actress in a musical or comedy motion picture for her role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”
There were some notable absences from the ceremony, including Tom Cruise and Brendan Fraser, nominated for best actor in a drama motion picture for ‘The Whale.’
