Global pandemic response China pledges $2 bln in aid

The crucial World Health Assembly (WHA) convened via teleconference beginning Monday. The WHA is the decision-making body of the World Health Organization. Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged two billion U.S. dollars in aid for the global pandemic response. But stakes are far greater than ordinary days against the backdrop of COVID-19. With geopolitical barbs over the coronavirus, can the meeting stem the spread of COVID-19? Can the world reaffirm its solidarity in safeguarding global health, our health?
