As Felicia Parrillo reports, Echaquan’s friends and family say this wasn’t an isolated incident. During this year’s chaotic first U.S. presidential debate, U.S. President Donald Trump refused to condemn the Proud Boys, instead telling the white nationalist group to “stand back and stand by.” As Jackson Proskow reports, Trump tried backtracking the remarks, but the damage has already been done. The Vancouver International Film Festival is underway, but the 39th annual event will look different during the pandemic.
