The United States is also imposing travel restrictions from eight southern African countries starting Monday. No cases of the Omicron variant have been identified in the U.S. yet, but as Jennifer Johnson explains, the country is grappling with its own rising COVID-19 caseloads.

Canada’s new chief of defence staff Gen. Wayne Eyre is facing internal challenges around the military’s reckoning with sexual misconduct. Eyre speaks with Mercedes Stephenson about reshaping military culture.

The federal government is urging all Canadians in Ethiopia to leave the country over fears that a year-long civil war could soon approach the capital. As Redmond Shannon reports, international efforts to broker a ceasefire have made little progress.
