    There has been an alarming surge of COVID-19 cases across Canada. Records are being broken on a near-daily basis, and there are calls for authorities to do more to stop the spread of the virus. Mercedes Stephenson has more on Calgary’s mayor calling for tougher measures, as more than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Alberta on Saturday. The U.S. has also broken another record for new virus cases in a 24-hour period, and nearly every state is seeing a spike. As Jennifer Johnson explains, Americans are being warned to stay put this holiday season. The safety of health-care workers is a critical concern amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but a device developed in Canada could reduce the risk for those working on the front lines. Su-Ling Goh has more.
