Global National: May 28, 2022 | Inaction of Uvalde police focus of Texas school shooting probe

Global News published this video item, entitled “Global National: May 28, 2022 | Inaction of Uvalde police focus of Texas school shooting probe” – below is their description.

In tonight’s top story: The inaction of police in Uvalde, Texas is now the central focus of the investigation into Tuesday’s mass shooting at Robb Elementary School.

As Jennifer Johnson reports, some in Congress are calling for FBI and Department of Justice to probe the incident as police admit they delayed going into a classroom believing the shooter was barricaded with no children inside.

The tragedy in Uvalde has been a focus of the NRA’s convention this weekend where some 55,000 people are expected to attend.

But speakers, including Texas Senator Ted Cruz and former president Donald Trump say the way to stop these massacres is with “more” weapons — not fewer. But as Heather Yourex-West reports, research says otherwise.

As the Uvalde mass shooting victims’ families try to cope with their immeasurable grief, they’re finding support from those who know the horrors of gun violence all too well.

Jackson Proskow talks to a couple whose daughter was killed in a mass shooting and came to Uvalde to comfort victims’ families straight from another massacre – the racist attack at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York that left ten dead and three wounded.

Campaigning days in Ontario’s general election are almost over with voters headed to the polls on Thursday.

At this point, it seems to be a race for second place with the prominent prediction of no change at the top. Chief political correspondent David Akin details how the vote could still have national implications.

Plus, A Vancouver-based Indigenous film producer says he was made to feel like a criminal after being turned away from the red carpet at the Cannes film festival despite being invited to walk it.

His “crime” was wearing traditional moccasins with his tuxedo. Richard Zussman has more.
