    International calls are growing for a ceasefire to the escalating Israel-Hamas conflict. But neither side is backing down and as Eric Sorensen reports, the death toll will only rise as innocent civilians become collateral damage.

    And as the conflict worsens, U.S. President Joe Biden is finally joining those calls supporting a ceasefire, while stopping short of demanding an end to the violence. As Jackson Proskow reports, Biden is facing pressure to take stronger action.

    In Canada, Brig.-Gen. Krista Brodie is now in charge of the country’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout, after Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin stepped aside while the military investigates a sexual misconduct allegation against him. Abigail Bimman reports on what’s known so far about the accusation.

    Manitoba now has the highest COVID-19 infection rate per capita in Canada, making it the country’s worst hot spot. Brittany Greenslade reports on how the province got to this grim benchmark, and what’s being done to get the spread under control. Meanwhile, Alberta’s third COVID-19 wave is starting to crest, but hospitals are still overwhelmed. As Heather Yourex-West reports, the province is planning to build more field hospitals.
