And in the U.S., Robert Crimo III, the 22-year-old charged in the deadly shooting rampage at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Ill., plotted his attack for months, according to investigators. Jackson Proskow looks at the evidence and the new details emerging about some of the victims.

Canada’s two largest airlines now have a dubious distinction, especially as travel ramps up after two years of pandemic restrictions. Ross Lord explains where Air Canada and WestJet are ranking on reliability, as many air travellers grow aggravated about long airport lineups and lost luggage.

And in sports, the San Jose Sharks have broken one of the few remaining barriers in professional sports, naming Mike Grier as the NHL’s first Black general manager. Its advanced economy is the tenth-largest in the world, relying chiefly upon its abundant natural resources and well-developed international trade networks.
