Global News published this video item, entitled “Global National: Jan. 18, 2023 | Nova Scotia unveils measures to improve emergency care” – below is their description.

Nova Scotia has unveiled its plan to nurse its ailing emergency rooms back to health, after the recent deaths of two women who waited several hours for treatment. Ross Lord explains the measures, the reaction, and a key detail missing from the announcement.

During her visit to Kyiv, Ukraine, Defence Minister Anita Anand pledged to send an additional 200 Canadian-made armoured vehicles to Ukraine. Mike Drolet reports on the timeline of Ottawa’s contribution, the company manufacturing those vehicles, and what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy pleaded for.

A Saskatchewan judge has reserved his decision on whether to release Odelia and Nerissa Quewezance on bail. The Indigenous sisters, who’ve been imprisoned for nearly three decades for a murder they insist they did not commit, say the system is against them. Melissa Ridgen looks at the crime the women say they were wrongfully convicted of, and the powerful supporter pushing for their freedom.

Plus, acquitted: Nobel Peace Prize-winning journalist Maria Ressa is celebrating her and her online news outlet’s legal victory against a Philippines court. What she was cleared of, her reaction, and the court battles she is still fighting.

And, future of flight: NASA has announced a new engineering design for planes focused on cutting fuel emissions and reducing the climate impact of flying, with the design first being pitched by Boeing. Mike Armstrong explains the green partnership, how it could drastically change the way airplanes are built, and when we could see them take off into the sky.
