One year after the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan again, many people, including those who have already fled to Canada, have been left traumatized. Jeff Semple speaks with the Ahmadi family, who lost a loved one while escaping, and their calls for the Canadian government to act faster to help those left behind.

Despite many promises of help, thousands of Afghans who helped the Canadian Armed Forces are still stuck, fearing for their lives one year after the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan. Tom Vernon looks at how thousands are still waiting in dangerous limbo, and how Ottawa’s response is being called “shameful.”

A week after executing a search warrant for classified documents at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Fla., many of his supporters, including some Republicans in Congress, are taking aim at the FBI. As Jackson Proskow reports, the bureau is reporting an increase in threats.

Thousands of Ukrainian civilian volunteers with little to no military experience are now training in England to fight Russian forces. Redmond Shannon heads to the training mission for a look at the combat exercises, and explains how Canadians will play an important role.

And for the first time ever, gene therapy is being used to treat an “ultra-rare disease” in a young Toronto boy. As Caryn Lieberman reports, his family raised more than $3 million to pay for the research and development of a treatment to help save their son.

Its advanced economy is the tenth-largest in the world, relying chiefly upon its abundant natural resources and well-developed international trade networks.
