In tonight’s episode of Global National: Jeff Semple takes a look inside a Toronto hospital that has been pushed to capacity by a wave of younger, sicker patients largely infected by COVID-19 variants.

Meanwhile, the Ontario government has declared the province’s third state of emergency and is again issuing a provincewide stay-at-home order. Eric Sorensen explains what the stay-at-home order means and what officials hope it will lead to.

The COVID-19 pandemic has also hit Canada’s intelligence service, including director David Vigneault, who has contracted the coronavirus, the agency confirmed on Wednesday. Mercedes Stephenson has more.

And there is more information about the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and reports about rare cases of blood clots, as the European Union’s drug regulator has released the findings of its investigation. Crystal Goomansingh explains.

A police informant is suing the RCMP and Canadian federal government, claiming they did not prepare him and his family for living in witness protection. Ross Lord reports.

Plus, a Toronto-area family is recovering after both parents and three of their seven children tested positive for COVID-19. Caryn Lieberman spoke to the family about their ordeal and what they want others to know.
