The trial is underway for Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer accused of killing George Floyd.

Chauvin has been charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, who died in police custody in Minneapolis, Minn. after the officer knelt on his neck for an extended period during an arrest. Chauvin faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted on the most serious charge.
