Global News published this video item, entitled “George Floyd remembered: Reverend Al Sharpton marks 1 year anniversary of his death | FULL” – below is their description.

People in Minneapolis are expected to mark the one-year anniversary of George Floyd’s death on Tuesday with a celebration of his life at the street corner where it ended as he was arrested by police last year.

In New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio and Reverend Al Sharpton are also expected to kneel for 9 minutes and 29 seconds.

Tuesday will mark one year since the 46-year-old Black man died after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin held his knee on Floyd’s neck as he pleaded for air. Floyd’s death sparked worldwide protests against anti-Black racism and calls for police reform in the U.S.

Chauvin was convicted of murder and manslaughter in his death.
