Gambia pays steep price for poor port infrastructure

Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Gambia pays steep price for poor port infrastructure” – below is their description.

The Gambia is paying the price for poor infrastructure at the Banjul River port.

It was once a preferred destination for cargo heading to many West African countries. But with limited space and a shortage of much-needed investment, the port is losing hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue every year.

And as neighbouring countries modernise and expand their operations, there are fears that The Gambia will lose more customers to the competition.

Al Jazeera’s Ahmed Idris reports from Banjul, Gambia.
