Gambia: Military threat looms as Jammeh clings to power

Adama Barrow is expected to be inaugurated as president of Gambia on Thursday, but Yahyah Jammeh, who lost the election last month, is clinging on to power despite his tenure ending at midnight local time.

Jammeh, who has ruled for 22 years, rejects the election result despite initially accepting defeat.

West African countries are now threatening military intervention.

Al Jazeera’s Victoria Gatenby reports.
