A sharp increase in the amount of money sent back home by expats is fueling an investment boom in The Gambia.
And much of that cash is ending up the real estate sector.
An estimated 120,000 Gambians live and work overseas, most of them in Europe and the United States.
It is a sign of hope for an economy that has been battered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
And the influx of cash is even drawing some back to the country.
Al Jazeera’s Ahmed Idris reports from the capital, Banjul.
