When a deadly earthquake and tsunami hit Japan’s north coast almost ten years ago triggering a major nuclear accident, residents fled Fukushima and never came back. Only a handful of people remained in the zone, and ended up looking after abandoned animals. Even though it’s come at a huge cost, the pet whisperers have vowed to stay on. Yvonne Yong reports.
