A young Tasmanian boxer who travelled across the work seeking a new life is striving to become the state’s next star of the sport.

18-year-old Ali Gawhari (AH-lee guh-HAH-ree) and his family fled Afghanistan four years ago and since his arrival in Tasmania he’s developed a passion for boxing.

Now he’s being compared to the former world champion, Daniel Geale
