South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Friendship is free: The beloved surplus store saved by New Yorkers” – below is their description.
At the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Henry Yao thought he would have to give up and shutter Army & Navy Bags, his tiny surplus store in New York City that he has run for about a decade. But little did Yao know that he was beloved by many New Yorkers for his kindness and friendliness, which was paid back in his most difficult time. People came in droves to support Yao after learning of his situation. On July 23, 2020, Yao said he sold out all of his merchandise. “I never expected that,” he said. “People care. New Yorkers are the best.”
