Sunday’s statement followed the resignation of Lebanon’s prime minister designate, Mustapha Adib. Adib stepped down after failing to form a cabinet. He was instrumental in the recovery plan laid out by Macron, to tackle mounting issues the country faces. The French president vowed to push ahead with a recovery plan he laid out after last month’s Beirut port explosion. Macron says there’s no other way to avert catastrophe.
