Freeland “very disappointed” after report military leaders golfed with Gen. Vance amid investigation

Global News published this video item, entitled “Freeland “very disappointed” after report military leaders golfed with Gen. Vance amid investigation” – below is their description.

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said on Monday she was “very disappointed” after learning that Vice-Adm. C.A. Baines, the commander of the Royal Canadian Navy, and second-in-command of the Canadian Forces, Lt.-Gen. Mike Rouleau went golfing with Gen. Jonathan Vance while he remains under investigation by military police.

Baines apologized on Sunday night, in a statement that also called his decision to do so “a public display of support.”

Freeland said the decision showed “very poor judgment” and said she understands the concerns reports like this raise about “the possibility of real fairness.”

Vance is currently under military police investigation following allegations of inappropriate behaviour, which were first reported by Global News in February. He denies all allegations of inappropriate behaviour.
