Police searching a cafe in Gloucester for one of Fred West’s possible victims have confirmed they may have found evidence of human remains.

Forensic specialists have been exploring the cellar of a property in Southgate Street in the town in connection with the disappearance of 15-year-old Mary Bastholm, who was last seen alive in January 1968.

Further excavation work will now begin under the Clean Plate cafe to determine whether it marks Mary’s final resting place.
