Britons hoping for a summer escape to France were delighted when the country was included on the UK’s list of countries exempt from quarantine back in early July. Now that delight has turned to dismay, as tens of thousands of British holidaymakers in France will have to quarantine for 14 days when they arrive in the UK as of 4am on Saturday, August 15.
Those with future trips booked will also likely find their insurance affected by the change in FCO advice, now against all but essential travel to the country. France has said it will impose reciprocal quarantine restrictions on British travellers if the UK Government does move to strike France from its list.
Coronavirus cases hit a post-lockdown daily high on August 13, with the French health ministry reporting 2,699 infections in 24 hours.
