There was a great deal of anticipation for a speech at the National Press Club this week meant to be delivered by the Defence Minister Linda Reynolds.

She would have faced tough questions from the Canberra press gallery about her handling of the Brittany Higgins case, the young Liberal staffer allegedly raped at parliament house.

But things didn’t go to plan.
