7NEWS Australia published this video item, entitled “Former footballer Jarryd Hayne sentenced over 2018 rape | 7NEWS” – below is their description.

There were wild scenes outside court in Newcastle this afternoon, where Jarryd Hayne was sentenced to jail over a 2018 sexual assault. The former NRL player will have to serve at least three years and eight months behind bars after being found guilty in March of two counts of sexual assault. The sentence came just hours after his victim provided a disturbing victim statement, saying the assault had destroyed her life. “She should hold her head up high, very inspiring young woman,” Detective Inspector Eugene Stek, former Sex Crimes Squad investigator, said outside court.
