A former British soldier has called on “a government or my government” to help accept some of the highly-skilled female workers he is currently protecting.

Ben Slater has left Kabul with 98 women in the hope of crossing a land border, but has been stuck for two days.

“I do need some help with this border,” he told Sky News. “The border people seem very forthcoming but I just need a government or my government to help… make phone calls to get the right documentation across and this nightmare will be over.”
