Luong The Huy is the first openly gay candidate running for a seat in Vietnam’s National Assembly in elections to be held on May 23, 2021. He is one of nine independent candidates who made it to the ballot out of 76 self-nominated contenders. The activist wants to boost the voice of the Vietnamese LGBT community by running for parliament.
