Firefighters continued to battle an out-of-control wildfire centered around Bejís in Castellón, Valencia, Spain, on August 18. Over the last few days, more than 13,000 hectares have been burnt, and the fire’s perimeter measured 120 kilometers, according to emergency officials. So far this summer, wildfires in Spain have blackened more than 700,000 hectares, the largest area since the European Union started collecting satellite data in 2006.
