Fire-ravaged Kangaroo Island pleads for tourists to return | ABC News

With recent bushfires having burnt up to half the island, Kangaroo Islanders are pleading with tourists not to abandon the world-renowned holiday destination. Business owners are worried the island’s economy will collapse, and may visitors are already cancelling their trips months in advance. In response to the concerns, South Australian Premier Steven Marshall has said he will take over as state Tourism Minister in a bid to “rebuild the economy”.
