Fines for parents who refuse to send children to school being considered – BBC News

The government has said it may fine parents in England who refuse to send their children back to school by September. The suggestion was made by the Education Secretary Gavin Williamson, who said he wanted all age groups to return to classrooms in the autumn.

Teaching unions have said that threatening parents is the wrong approach and that people who were concerned about their children’s safety needed reassurance.
