The Federal Court has ruled the Gillard government’s snap ban on live cattle exports was unlawful and found the minister responsible acted recklessly.

The landmark ruling brings to a close a six-year legal battle and could see the Commonwealth pay hundreds of millions of dollars in damages to cattle producers.
