There are fears an extended lockdown could have devastating impacts on children who require face-to-face early intervention therapies for disability.
Last year, lockdowns and long waitlists set back a diagnosis of autism for 4-year-old Jack by seven months. It delayed access to NDIS funding and the start of vital speech therapy.
Now, living through a third lockdown in Avalon in Sydney, his mother Tegan says intensive school holiday sessions have been cancelled and childcare centres have stopped allowing occupational therapists to attend there.
