South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Favourite snack fried chicken pricier in South Korea as record inflation drives up food costs” – below is their description.
A favourite South Korean snack is losing its sizzle as inflation heats up and a record increase in food prices drives up the cost of fried chicken. A whole fried bird now sells for nearly US$23, up from about US$17 and broiler chickens and edible oil have become costlier amid the highest inflation the nation has seen in at least two decades. Government data shows food prices increased by 8 per cent year on year in July, 2022. Many fried chicken brands have boosted prices of their products by about 10 per cent.
