With the arrival of the new snow season, many winter activities are attracting tourists to Altay City in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The city has issued a series of policies to encourage people to participate in snow and ice sports. Since 2018, Altay City has made skiing a featured physical education course, offering free skiing lessons to primary and secondary school students. So far, over 46,000 people have taken skiing lessons in Altay.
