Families after prison | AJ Contrast

Filmmaker Messiah Rhodes lost touch with his mom while she was in and out of jail throughout his childhood. It wasn’t until after she was treated for mental illness and substance abuse that she was able to get out of this cycle of incarceration, rebuild her life and reconnect with her son. In the final episode of this two-part series, Messiah talks to other families that are rebuilding their lives together in order to understand how his mom, and all of these other women, finally found their way out.
