ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “Expert says the way the Public Trustee office managed Luka’s inheritance was ‘unforgivable’ | 7.30” – below is their description.
The public trustee system is meant to protect the interests of thousands of people across the country deemed unable to manage their financial affairs due to dementia, disability or brain injury.
Earlier this year, following an ABC investigation, the Queensland government announced two inquiries into the state’s public trustee. Since then, hundreds of people have come forward to report their own experiences of high costs and dwindling balances, and the mismanagement of deceased estates. This report from Anne Connolly and Sarah Curnow from ABC Investigations.
