CGTN published this video item, entitled “Expert: China has actively participated in UN peacekeeping operations over past three decades” – below is their description.

Zhang Junshe, a researcher at the Naval Research Academy, said that China, as a responsible power, has actively participated in UN peacekeeping operations over the past three decades. To date, the Chinese PLA Navy has dispatched 36 fleets to the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters for anti-piracy escort missions, which have protected more than 6,800 merchant ships, more than half belonging to foreign countries and international organizations. In carrying out UN peacekeeping operations, China has always adhered to its position of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, respecting their sovereignty and territorial integrity, and providing escorts for the international community in strict compliance with the mandate of the United Nations Security Council.
