Defence Minister Peter Dutton and Foreign Minister Marise Payne confirmed a significant expansion of the US military presence in Australia a day after the landmark security partnership between Australia, the US and the UK was unveiled. Lockdown restrictions across Melbourne and Ballarat will ease at 11.59pm tonight with modest changes coming into effect after the state hit its 70 per cent first-dose vaccine milestone.
