Exclusive: NHS test-and-trace scheme will not be ‘world-class’ until autumn, admits chief

The UK’s test-and-trace system that is crucial to prevent a second wave of the coronavirus will not be working at full speed until autumn at the earliest, a leader in the scheme has admitted. 
During a webinar for test-and-trace programme managers, Tony Prestedge said the programme would be ‘imperfect’ at launch, adding that he hoped it would be operational at a world-class level by September or October
