A Russian lawmaker in one of the most militarised parts of Europe has told Al Jazeera that a corruption scandal has left part of the Navy’s Baltic Fleet with a defective air defence system.
Russia’s defence ministry has now suspended tests on the missiles fitted to a new range of ships.
The action follows the biggest purge of Russian military officers since the rule of Joseph Stalin.
