Zaher Sahloul, a member of the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS), worked as a doctor in the Syrian city of Aleppo during the summer.
On Saturday, the largest hospital in the rebel-held eastern side of Aleppo, which is supported by SAMS, was hit by at least two barrel bombs.
Sahloul, who also went to medical school with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, spoke to Al Jazeera’s Maryam Nemazee about the increasing attacks on medical facilities in Aleppo.
