Belarusian opposition leaders have been awarded the European Parliament’s Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought.

Sviatlana Tikhanovskaya received the award in Strasbourg.

Incumbent Alexander Lukashenko claimed to have won with a landslide, but the opposition regards Tikhanovskaya as the real winner.
