EU COVID recovery fund deal reached after marathon talks

EU leaders have clinched a deal on a multibillion-dollar coronavirus rescue fund, after four days and nights of intent, and often acrimonious, talks.
The recovery package will provide almost $860bn in grants and loans to counter the effects of the recession.
There had been major divisions over the ratio of grants to loans, but the gathered leaders were able to reach a deal they called “historic”.
